Obsession
“My limbs now tremble, and my eyes swim with the remembrance; but then a resistless, and almost frantic impulse, urged me forward; I seemed to have lost all soul or sensation but for this one pursuit”Obsession, when does it cross the line into insanity? Or are all obsessions insane? All living things have obsessions be they habitual, mental or physical. Maybe they are what keep us sane. Obsession is one of the most chosen topics to be the main theme in books. Murder mysteries are the most obvious examples with their dark mysterious, often brilliantly mad, obsessive behaviour of the main character. There are books that contain the usual everyday obsession. Yet the most interesting books seem to step off in a tangent of twisted tales, full of enigmatic experiences, that draw your every thought and feeling towards them, perhaps creating an obsession of their own? One of the best books ever written with the theme of obsession would have to be Oscar Wilde’s ‘The Picture of Dorian Gray’. A tale of a young man so obsessed with his good looks, that his narcissism soon drives him crazy. This is not the only obsession the main character Dorian Gray exper

Dr Frankenstein’s dark mysterious secret giving reason to neglect friends and family over his insane obsession ‘Forget those friends many miles absent. ’ By killing her, he destroys his only reason to live. Lines on death and corruption are common in ‘The Picture of Dorian Gray’, as youth and getting the most out of life are the most important things for Dorian and Lord Henry. Is Obsession Harmless?“My limbs now tremble, and my eyes swim with the remembrance; but then a resistless, and almost frantic impulse, urged me forward; I seemed to have lost all soul or sensation but for this one pursuit”Book: FrankensteinObsession, when does it cross the line into insanity?
