             Abercrombie & Fitch has outfitted famous clients including Ernest Hemingway, Robert Peary, Amelia Earhart, Howard Hughes, the Duke of Windsor and many Presidents. Abercrombie & Fitch is now a popular retailer of casual clothing and accessories for young men and women with stores nationwide and markets directly to customers through a quarterly catalog and website. There are more than 700 stores nationwide, most of those in Malls. Abercrombie targets college students while their two concept stores- kids abercrombie and Hollister Co. target younger teens. Their image can be considered somewhat "rugged" or "vintage" and definitely controversial. Abercrombie has been known for the labels A+F, Abercrombie and Fitch, abercrombie or the recent moose's head logo. Their Store, Hollister sells clothing with "California Style" bright colors and surfwear make up this store. Different than the vintage look but with a certain connection to the clothes of Abercrombie. A+F claims that they are selling more than clothes... they are selling a lifestyle.
             Through 2002 Abercrombie and Fitch remained focus on increasing the women and girls clothing which was significantly less developed in comparison to the men's section. The net sales from the 2002 consolidated statement of Income confirmed that Abercrombie and Fitch's net sales totaled 1.6 billion and their gross income- 940 million. This was a 17% increase from 2001. According to Michael Jeffries, A+F's CEO, the future looks great. A new plan of designing and delivering clothing more quickly will gain profit. Although small class-action lawsuits occurred throughout the 2002 year against Abercrombie, accusing them of being racist and promoting teenage sex and underage drinking, sales were unaffected...i...
