In other words, ecstasy from music is sound that leaves you standing outside of yourself. Every one of our brains is affected differently by music. Some tones we hear are happy, others are sad. Scientists have taken music into their laboratories and the study evolved into musical psychoacoustics, a discipline that scrutinizes every aspect of musical perception and performance. Music therapy uses how different types of music affect the brain to treat patients of various illnesses and ailments (10). Since primitive times it has been recognized as effective therapy, but it was not until this century that it emerged as an organized profession and discipline. It has grown from a neglected, uncommon science to a believable art. Music therapy is now an increasingly recognized technique involving intense interactions of music studies, psychiatry and psychology (Macklin 74-75). Music therap

Music therapy is the prescribed use of music under the direction of specially trained therapists to influence changes in negative Kovacs 2conditions and behavior. "First the music floods your mind, then washes over each vertebrae in your spine and radiates outward to every last finger and toe" (73).
