Masculint Vs Feminism Macbeth
In the play Macbeth, it seems evident that Lady Macbeth is a man trapped within a female body. Her persona is filled with greediness, envy and abhorrence, and she will utilise any person or anything as a tool to accomplish her malevolent goals. Throughout the play we are positioned to view lady Macbeth as the angelic, naive wife of Macbeth, however these characteristics are concealed under a vale of lies and deceit. She continually ignores her true sentiments and masquerades as a normal female. Through this, her evil nature becomes evident. Lady Macbeth tends to rely on dishonesty and manipulation rather than violence to achieve her ends. Initially, Macbeth is not naturally inclined to commit such an evil deed, however, Lady Macbeth follows her goal with greater strength of mind as she psychologically forces her husband to ruthlessly kill King Duncan. It is interesting to note the aggression of female characters within the play is more conspicuous, as it goes against all customary expectations of how women should behave, Because of this, the audience cannot help but come to the conclusion that, within the play, women are the basis of violence and evil that is consistently operative.Contrary to my esteemed colleges perverse opi
The women in the play are ultimately denied the opportunity to carry out things independently. Some of the lesser informed may tend to think Macbeth a tool used by his lady for the murder of her king to heighten her own hidden aspirations. All her actions are for his benefit, as Macbeth's wife, his lady knows what he wants and is willing to do all necessary to unsure he gets it. So tell me now, why did Macbeth not suffer a similar fortune? Punishment? A similar fate? With his wife's death Macbeth suffered the ultimate punishment, being left without a son. Macbeth implies that she is a masculine residing in a female body, which seems to connect masculinity to ambition and violence. The violence illustrated by female characters completely diminishes the stereotypical prevailing expectations of how a woman should perform. For example, the witches' prophecies trigger Macbeth's ambitions, which is then causative to his abhorrent behaviour. The male holds all power in this relationship, like all other relationships of the time. We also draw the conclusion that she is being punished. It becomes evident that they basically just converse and manipulate in order to achieve their ends. From the opening battle scene Macbeth's appetite for power can be seen. If we can agree on Macbeth's being male, we can agree on his holding power and can then see all his lady's actions sharing the same characteristic. I will concede, however, Lady Macbeth's greed and envy filled persona, though to gain a heightened understanding of the play it must be realised such qualities are a direct mirror reflection of her husband. Lady Macbeth manipulates her husband with unbelievable effectiveness, disregarding all his objectives; when he procrastinates the murder, she repeatedly questions his masculinity until he believes that he should commit the crime in order to live up to the assumed expectation of his wife. She only wishes to be able to help further her husband.
