Corporate culture is the way a company does things related to its organization, for example: value, beliefs, and patterns of shared assumptions. Culture can also be analyzed as a phenomenon that surrounds employees at all times. It can be constantly enacted and created by interactions with others. Furthermore, the importance of organizational culture is extended to new workers, as well as the current employees. Walt Disney, the founder, transformed the entertainment industry into what we know as animation, and found new ways to teach and educate. Walt's optimism came from his unique ability to see the entire picture. As one of the successful entrepreneurs, Alfred Marcus (1997) states "a lot of entrepreneurial business were started not because people wanted to make money, but because they had a large purpose in mind (p.9). Disney's organizational philosophy, "I believe in being an innovator" was first established in the 20th century and is still carrying the company's success. it's proven it's a good business policy. Their attention to detail from their executive leaders to the millions of guests who attend Disney properties each year is unmatched and driven by Disney's pride, heritage and core values. Any employee that doesn't meet Disney expectations is either not hired or let go. The interesting aspect surrounding the Eisner controversy is the fact that there is a Disney family interest trying to maintain the culture and foundation his uncle; Walt Disney started the company with. The University is designed to instill the pride of the Disney heritage and core values. For an organization to have direction it also needs to be attached to its mission. When their manager found them talking with the boss, he asked Walt if he could have them back to finish their work before the park opened. Walt Disney communicated a place where families enjoy each other's company in a safe and friendly environment. Employees are informed of the Disney way before they are even hired. People may be unsure about the right way to treat a customer, but everyone knows how to treat a guest in their home," she explains.
