Colwin has presented the characters in this story perfectly. She first presents Freddie going to a friends wedding and reminiscing about her own wedding. Also how she grew up at the house where the wedding is taking place, she even got engaged only a mile away. This is all-important because she segue's into talking about Freddies life before and after marriage by showing her reminiscing at her eldest friends wedding.
