His interest in the plays soon sprouted into a full time career. As for his personal life, Al is one of Hollywoods most notorious bachelors, having never been married. He has a daughter named Julie Marie with acting teacher Jan Tarrant and a set of twins with his long time girlfriend Beverly D'angelo. He went into a romantic mode for "franky and Johnny". He then returned with "sea of love" as a hard - drinking cop which was to mark the second phase of his carreer. Although the director, Francis Ford Coppola had his heart set on Al Pacino.
