Lennie-He is a large, strong, childlike migrant worker. Because of his mental disability, he depends upon George for protection and guidance. Although, Lennie is gentle and kind, he doesn't understand his own strength. He loves to pet soft things, such as small animals, dresses, and people's hair. Lennie loved George and tried his best to stay out of trouble. Lennie gets upset and frightens Crooks. He was loving and devoted to Lennie. George taking care of Lennie and the dream of having a farm are attempts to break the pattern of loneliness for him. Lennie loved George and never wanted to cause him any trouble. Most Important Character I could not decide who the most important character in the story was. Lennie tells George that he thought he would be mad at him. He tells Slim Lennie has went South knowing that he has gone north to the pond. Slim goes to the barn to do some work, and Curley is searching for his wife. Slim tells George they should go for a drink. The next night, most of the men go into town. We didn't see how George got the gun to kill Lennie or how the other men reacted when they realized that George had shot and killed Lennie. When he touches something soft it gives him a feeling of not being alone in the world. His innocence remained until his death.
