government control of freedom
People are always fighting against the government's control of freedom. What are they fighting for? Are they fighting for absolute freedom? What is absolute freedom? How much freedom do we have to sacrifice to keep our freedom protected? Is the freedom we One of the major reasons freedom is so desirable is because many of the limitations by the government on freedom are disallowing humans the right to have control over their bodies. Control of the human body is the only thing that people have power over. When the government can take away your choice to smoke, tell you when to wear a seatbelt, set laws to limit your right to do what you want to your body, or decide what constitutes a religion we should all be concerned! To preserve the Bill of Rights for ourselves, we must defend them for everybody. A large number of the prohibited freedoms are crimes where the criminal makes himself the victim. For example, the use of drugs, prostitution, suicide, vagrancy, possession of illegal substance, dodging the draft, entering the country illegally, and disregard for th
Some people are not concerned that the police can execute a search warrant without knocking, setup roadblocks, and interrogate innocent citizens. I getsmacked in the face with the harsh reality, that we as Americans, people of the land of the free, don'teven have the right to do as we please with our body's. Gerry Spence's essay talked about how its imposible to have absolute freedom, because it would end up being absolute terror. It should be no one's decision but the people if they want to be homeless, drug addicted, or a prostitute. These crimes are set apart from most others because the person willingly chooses to victimize themselves. All of these crimes are punishable under the law. Why are they telling us that like we have a choice? Do we have the right to choose if we want to harm our own body? We dont because if we dcide to use our human right to do as we please with our body by using drugs, we are breaking the law. If we did not have these laws and punishments for breaking them, our society would be in disorder. When you brake the law you could face time in prison. What people choose to do to themselves, in my opinion is the least of our worries as a country or a society. As long as the only damage done affects them self. The only place its possible to achieve absolute freedom, is in the after life. Watching a program, not thinking of the problems we have to face everyday. Its bad enough that they use freedom of speech as propaganda to talk about only the negative aspects of marijuana, but that they have also set laws which state that the use of marijuana is illegal, and you will face time in prison for possesion.
