healing
God is not blind that he cannot see our suffering , when the children of Israel were in bondage God instructed Moses to tell them He had seen their suffering and had heard them crying out .I don't think that God heard them because their cry was loud ( although it may have been ) but rather because it came from their innermost beings and was a sincere plea to Him recognising their own inability to do anything about their plight .Whilst healing is popular to talk about ,The Bible also tells us that His hand can injure us .Hard to compute that with a loving Father until we understand that the context for this in the book of Job (ch 5 vs. 17-18 ) is that of discipline . I am certainly not suggesting that all our suffering is a matter of discipline ,but it is a biblical reality that sometimes it is .Sometimes when I discipline my own children their pride is hurt , sometimes it's their emotions and sometimes it's their backsides .I don't discipline my children out of some sort of sick feeling of badness , rather so as to teach them right from wrong , good from bad and the fact that there is consequences in life for bad decisions . Isaiah ch 19 vs. 22 suggests to me that God responds positively to those who recognise H
Jesus detested the bondage that religion placed on people , as all religions do , it told them that if they behaved in a certain manner and adhered to specific code of practice that they would earn "a" Gods love . There is no hocus pocus to Gods healing , some people experience it some people don't . Of course what we witness today as the church is so far removed from the handful of misfits that was the first church . What does that mean for me and you ? Simply this that God is not dependant on us in any way to do what he wants to do . We must accept that we can only remain open to allowing God to do with us what he sees fit to do , as Jesus said "thy will be done". God said that his grace would be sufficient . God wants to heal our waywardness , all of us like to go our own way , we like to be in control of our own destiny . God says he will heal their wounds and restore health , he says there will be songs of thanksgiving , the sound of rejoicing and that the family will grow and be honoured . Now many people turn to religious people for prayer for healing but the ones he gave his authority to were not religious by any stretch of the imagination . Why did Paul not have his "thorn in the flesh" removed ?Was he not faithful enough ? Was he not good enough ? Was he not loved enough? Surely none of these are true . Our present day perception of Gods power being manifest is completely different to his first disciples . 14-15 , our hearts need softened towards God we need to look at things differently and listen to things in a new way , we need to apply the heart to understand things rather than apply logic . We certainly do not like the thought of having to swallow our pride and ask for the help of someone else , especially that of a God or entity that we can neither see nor touch . 30 , His followers expected that God would stretch out his hand to heal and miracles would happen , they had witnessed it and it was their norm .
