Team Case Study of Conflict in TeamsA team is a collection of individuals who exist within a larger social system such as an organization who can be identified by themselves and others as a team, who are independent, and who perform tasks that affect other individuals and groups (Stewart, Manz, & Sims,1999, p3). Throughout my childhood, I was part of a few team organizations such as chorus, cheerleading, and track. As an adult, I was part of several work-related groups. The one I will be discussing today is going to be from one of my work-related teams at one of the banks at which I had been employed.Within the two years working for Fleet Boston Financial, I experienced a great conflict, avoidance, compromise, and integrative bargaining. I also experienced leadership and many different ways to deal with leadership as well as conflict. "A team can provide different members with a common path to separate individual goals, and conflict arising from diversity in member goals is minimal" (Manz, Neck, Mancuso, & Manz, 1997, p).
