articles of confederation

There are major differences between the Articles of Confederation and the Constitution. The Articles of Confederation had been in the influence in 1781, it exhibited numerous weaknesses that hampered their ability to function as an efficient government. And there are many weaknesses in the document that needed to be fixed, the country was no in a stable state, economically, politically, or defensively. The Articles did not give the government the power to individually tax the state

States were refusing to pay taxes; some of the states were levying duties on goods from their neighbors; New York, taxed firewood from Connecticut and cabbages from New Jersey. It could only request states to send men for military services. For example, it established a tax quota for each of the states and then asked them please to contribute their share on a voluntary basis. And finally there is no national court system to interpret laws, each state had is own courts system disputes between states had to be settled in one of the states' court. The Congress did not have the power to draft an army. The Articles of Confederation arranged a national government that would consist of single house of the congress, where each state would have one vote. And Because congress did not have the power to tax citizens, it could only request tax money from states, but the states don't want to re-tax by the government, so states often chose not to pay taxes. s, so each state would not be taxed without represented, so they are no power to collect taxes. This meant that the congress had no power to force the citizens pay taxes. So, how did the Constitution attempt to correct the flaws of the Articles of Confederation government? And now, we have a chance to talk and research about it. First, we know the problem of the Articles of Confederation was limited the power to central government.
