             With the establishment of the extermination camps, such as Auschwitz, came the near destruction of the population of European Jews; the torturous conditions implemented upon these extraordinary people easily surpass the imaginations of even today's most knowledgeable intellectuals. When Hitler took over the position of German President after Hindenburg, he decided to kill Jews in a mass murders that would burn into the minds of so many forever. He felt that Jews were "sub-humans" and that they did not deserve to live. He blamed them for his defeat in World War I. Hitler's hatred of Jews led to what he called the "Final Solution" or complete obliteration of the European Jews. Heinrich Himmler ordered the establishment of the first camp on April 27, 1940. 1A.
