"Force?"

The Russians and the Chechen’s have been in conflict for many years and as time

passes the problem seems to get worse with the prevalence of horrific terrorist attacks.

What could cause the continuity of such attacks? Putin has come up with his own

solution to the problem, but for the past years he has been relying on the same solution

and still there hasn’t been a bright side to it. Is his idea of applying force against the

Chechens the reason for all this? In this essay I will explain Putin’s method of solving

Russia’s terrorist problem and how his solutions to the problem will only cause more

danger in the future. With this I will also add some issues concerning the terrorist

activities and better solutions to the problem.

War between the Russians and the Chechens never seem to stop. It has continued

with acts of horrific nature. In the article “Putin and the Chechen’s” of the International

Herald Tribune it explains how the roots of the Chechen’s grievances are buried deep in

history. It continues explaining how Chechen hostility in Russia goes back centuries to

. . .

Even after the school hostage in Beslan, Putin still relies on the idea of sending troops

down to Chechnya. Putin seems to come up with the solution of force

were there are other concerns such as security, corruption and negotiations. And it suits some Russian commanders and law-

enforcement bosses who get their cut from Chechen oil wells, arms sales and

the bribes that everyone-terrorists included- pays to get through the

checkpoints that do the northern Caucasus. The retaliations with force isn’t new to the Chechen’s and with this in mind the

Chechen’s will continue their terrorist activities with deadly effects in the future. They seem to have lost their emotional side

and the result is catastrophic. It all began when Stalin deported the entire

Chechen population from Chechnya and those that refused to leave were executed by his

forces (4). In the

article “Russia’s horror” of the Economist It states “Governments that go to war have a duty

not only to win, but also to stop future ones breaking out. It seems well established for many Russians living in Russia,

but the problem is that not many Russians know the reality of these guarding positions.
