Romeo Must Die Critiscism

Action-packed, witty, sophisticated, interesting, riveting- these are just a few of the words that can be used to describe Romeo Must Die, a gripping film directed by mastermind Andrzej Bartkowiak. This superb film features an all-star line of actors, including the beautiful Aaliyah Haughton, the talented Jet Li, DMX, Anthony Anderson, Delroy Lindo, Russell Wong, Isaiah Washington, Edoardo Ballerini and Henry O. Aaliyah plays the part of Trish, the daughter of Isaak O’Day (Lindo). Jet Li is Han Sing, the eldest son of Ch’u Sing (Henry O). DMX is a club owner, named Silk. Anthony Anderson plays the part of one of Isaak O’Day’s business partners, as well as Trish’s bodyguard. Isaiah Washington plays Mac, another business partner of O’Day. Russell Wong plays the role of Kai, a business partner of Ch’u Sing. Edoardo Ballerini plays Vincent Roth, a cunning businessman with no ties to either of the family, with the exception of a mutual interest in money.

Set in the year 2000, the majority of this film occurs at the Oakland- San Francisco waterfront, an area that contains properties that are of extreme value. A small part takes place in Hong Kong. The setting of the waterfront is greatly important to the film, as the main conflict con

. . .

All are trying to get their hands on the deeds of as many waterfront properties as they can. The karate in this movie keeps the viewers on the edge of their seats at all times. The feuding families and sidekicks are divided by ethnicity. Trish is much unlike her father, and does not want any part in his business deals. The world creates these differences, by judging each other based upon gender, age, race, and other such physical qualities. Aalliyah uses facial expression and manipulates her voice to show that, while her character Trish is nice, she will not put up with any nonsense from anyone. Han Sing comes to Oakland to avenge the death of his younger brother, and when he teams up with Trish to find his brother’s murderers, they face problems of a much larger scale- the war between their families. Delroy Lindo does an excellent job of showing both sides of Mr. In Shakespeare’s version, the cause of the feud between the families is unknown, because their hatred for each other is ancient. This helps to hold onto the viewer’s interest right to the very end. The special effects were incredible. Kai is a smart and built Chinese man. In this modern day version, Han and Trish survive the ‘war’ and end up together. Isaiah Washington uses very convincing facial expression, especially when he character is angered, which shows us that Mac is indeed a very ill tempered man.
