Essence

            We Need to Learn Essence, Not Surface
             "Hi!" "Hi!", "How are you?" "Good.", "What's up?" "What?" This was my first question appeared in my mind, "what should I answer it?", when I came the Unites States. Actually, I had studied English for six years on that time, but I had never heard such an easy words, "what's up". Then, I thought what I had ever studied for six years, and that would never help me.
             I think superficial studying is nothing for us. Japanese education of English is one of the good examples. We usually learn grammar much more than listening in Japan. As a result of it, most of Japanese can be good at grammar, but we lack, no doubt, ability of communication because of it. That is why I couldn't answer "what's up", and most of Japanese are not good speaker even we had ever studied English for six years in Japan. I think we study English as one of the ways of communication among people, not study it as only one way of communication on paper. That is the difference between studying essence and surface. Japanese education was for only on paper. When such the education, Japanese one of English, permeates among society, and is still going on, developing and good result never come to us.
             We can also say the difference between essence and surface in child education. Children are usually apt to be tired of whatever they do. Especially, they would be tired more even if what they do was study. On the other hand, if they were taken much interesting education, what would happen? They would enjoy it, and the effect of it would be better than boring education, I mean they would be able to get too many things from their interests, because what the most interesting thing for children is, I guess, to have a fun.
