He was a scholarly man, who attended various universities and was highly regarded under a variety of different teachers. His ideas caused a huge uproar in not only the scientific community, but also in the religious community. Copernicus was a religious man who found ideas that directly contradicted his religion. In 1503, even though Copernicus did not complete his studies, he received a doctorate in Canon Law from Ferrara. One of the major flaws in the Copernican system was his predictions of planetary movement. After a few experiments demonstrating how gravity could hold various objects together while spinning, and also experiments where objects were being pulled by something that they spun around it, Copernicus proved the rationality of his gravitational claims. The sun, he thus concluded, was the center force pulling earth towards it. Ecclesiastes 1 states that: "But the earth abideth forever. This did not happen right away; it took decades, but Copernicus fueled the search and drive. "Christianity Today International". Copernicus, who had grown up studying classical astronomers, such as Aristotle and Ptolemy, found flaws in many of their theories. We have no account of how the discovery affected Copernicus.
