Present Career

             College education and career choices
             Finding a career that fits ones personal needs and lifestyle can prove to be a difficult task. Many times it is ones career that dictates ones lifestyle. I am in the process of pursuing a career that will satisfy my needs as well as allow me to create my own future.
             After graduating high school I found my self, working at a distribution warehouse. Over a period of several months I decided that I would need to pursue a more professional career. I had absolutely no idea what I wanted to do. I took the advice of a co-worker and decided to pursue a job as an electrician. Two weeks later I found myself enrolled in a four year trade school, and I was working as a commercial industrial electrician. I completed trade school and became a skilled tradesman. After I had put about five years of hard work in I decided that I did not like construction and I needed to look for a different field of work. By this time I had purchased a home and a new car. Making a career change at this point would be very difficult for me financially. I would have to make sacrifices in order to pursue another line of work. With a little help from my family I decided to give up everything I had acquired, and join the military. I needed to return to school. The military offers money for college, plus I wanted to support my country. It sounded like a good idea at the time. After spending several months in the marine corps, I was absolutely sure I would not pursue a life long career in the military. During a training exercise I ended up destroying my shoulder which put me in a non deployable state. This means for me that I will not be able to go over seas. Discouraged I began looking for some way to better myself. I took the steps to enroll in the University of Phoenix. My injury puts me in a position where I am unable to pursue a heavy construction job. My only choice is to look for a white collar career.
