The Philippines, India, Indonesia, Soviet Union, and Africa are just a few areas of the world where this religion is present. In the beginning there was a prophet named Mohammed. The word prophecy means God communicates. In the 7th century Mohammed and his people were forced to leave their homes. This event was referred to as the Hijra which means migration. The people left Mecca for the city to Medina. The Hijra marks the beginning of the Muslim calendar. The calendar is based on the cycles of the moon. This is done during the month of Ramadan. "(243) Faith being the first one is when they have to profess their faith by saying the Shahadah in the presence of witnesses. The word Muslim means "submitters," and the word Islam means "state of the mind. Fasting is considered to be a method of self-purification. I am looking forward to learning more about other religions around the world. Not one word of the Koran has been changed. It contains 114 surahs or chapters. Islam is a complete way of life for Muslims. Armsgiving being the third is when people have an obligation to give to the poor and needy. " Third, "Mandatory" which includes performing the rituals and the payment of arms. The Muslims have an obligation to God. The Qur'an is a record of the exact words that were revealed to Mohammed.
