"The Iliad" and "The Glory"

"The Iliad" and "The Glory" similaritiesTwo stories: "THE ILIAD" (by I. A. Richards), and the movie "GLORY" (based on books "Lay This Laurel" by Lincoln Kirstein and "One Gallant Rush" by Peter Berchard) are set during two different time zones in our history. Yet, both of these stories share a number of similar moral issues, which remain important, and the same till this very day. In "THE ILIAD" and "GLORY" we were introduced tomany different heroes and ordinary people, which represent beings with many different personality features. In these stories we meet characters with good leadership qualities, and also characters which abuse their position as a leader. A good leader should definitely be an individual with excellent communication skills. He must understand what his followers desire (what are they fighting for) and he must believe in the same. Of course, he must earn respect by setting an example, and being able to sacrifice whatever is necessary for his people. A leader should be able make good decisions at the right time for the welfare of the whole. Finally, the more supportive the leader is, the more confidence his people will have, and better they will reach their goal.

Hector set very good examples in fighting. In the "Iliad" Goods were physically involved in the war. Although the black men under the command of Col. good leader fromepic "The Iliad", I would personally point out King of Troy Priams' son Hector. If there were any problems or complains from soldiers, Rawlins would forward them to Col. The most striking characters of this kind in the movie, "Glory", were Colonel Montgomery, and Major General Harker. 1> For example when higher authorities did not want to give a new shoes to 54th reg. Another character, I would like to emphasize as a good leader was Sgt. blamed most of the wrong doing on gods.
