Kafka on care

            In life people encounter troubles at certain points in time. These types of troubles can range from anything such as health problems, emotional problems, stress, etc. Sometimes people are able to predict the outcome of these problems and sometimes they can't, depending on the situation. But what's certain about whatever the problem may be is that it is better to help than to not help at all. By giving time and care to a person in need, we can help the person no matter what they are going through and no matter what the outcome will be. It is better to help a suffering person than to not care at all. Author Franz Kafka proves in his story "The Transformation" this by making us feel and empathize with Gregor for his problem through the actions his family takes on his transformation.
             In the story "The Transformation", Gregor (main character) finds himself transformed into a giant insect. He must rely on his family helping him because it is essential to his survival. Kafka sows lots of tension at the end of Gregor's transformation when Gregor reveals his new look to his family as the mother "suddenly leapt to her feet...cried out: 'Help, for God's sake help!'", pg 89. This line gives an idea of how serious the situation is.
             Kafka makes us feel lots of sympathy for Gregor's problem through the actions of Grete, Gregor's sister. At first we see an example of Grete's care for Gregor when she leaves him "a bowl filled with creamy milk, in which little slices of white bread were floating", pg 92. This happened right after Gregor's father beat him after finding out about his transformation. It seems as though Grete feels the most for Gregor out of her the entire family. But as the story moves on, Kafka shows an example on the importance of caring. After a long time of care-taking, Grete becomes too busy to care for her brother. An example...
