Columbus, the Indians, and Hum

Howard Zinn, author of the article, thesis is that Columbus and the Spaniards that came to the new world found gullible people and used them for their personal gain. The major point the author is trying to make is that Columbus and the Spaniard, although they found the new world, they were not as good people as many make them out to be. They took advantage of the Native Americans upon arrival to the new world. They never helped the Native Americans instead they hurt them. Zinn reports many logs of Columbus? from this voyage as well as Las Casas? in forming his evidence to prove the article. He is somewhat convincing but then again we never will know. Lastly I have no arguments because I find no help in using sources that no really knows how realiable they are. This went on how many years ago and the only one that truly knows what went on

? They also stated that some of the Spaniards got so conceited that they didn?t even think they should have to walk on their own feet instead they had the Native Americans carry them on their backs. Infants were killed to save thim from the Spaniards. The reason I say this is because he just like many other history writers weren?t there when all this happened. In two years, through murder, mutilation or suicide, half of the 250,000 Indians on Haiti were dead. The only reason I say it somewhat is, is because of the logs he added if they are accurate then yes this may be a very reliable article. For all we know Howard Zinn could be Native American and have bias towards Columbus and the Spainards. I have not arguments aor pints that can go against it because as a I briefly stated above no one knows the truth except those who were there. Yet you say that the writers of history books weren?t either and I believe that many of these writers are biased. ? And lastly, ? Thus husbands and wives were together only once every eight or ten months and when they meet they were so exhausted and depressed on both sides?newly born, thye dided early because their mothers over worked and famished had no milk to nurse them?? Their lives went from being good to horrible all because of the new comers. The only evidence in this article I have in showing this is that in a log Columbus once wrote he stated, ?they willingly traded everything they owned?they would make fine servants? we could subjugate them all and make them do whatever we want. Among the Arawaks, mass suicides began, with cassaba poison. Columbus and the Spaniards may have found the new world, but how they used the people was just not right. The new comers also treated the Native Americans so poorly.
