I agree an effective English text needs to be more than just a good story it must have interesting characters coming to terms with their lives. Like the book "The Outsiders" is a good story, it had interesting character such as Ponyboy Curtis, Johnny Cade and Dally Winston coming to terms with their lives. Ponyboy use to fight with his oldest brother. He had a female friend from the Socs sides. His family was quit a mass. Johnny and Ponyboy went together after the murdering. After saving the kids, Johnny is being a hero. His parents usually punch him. Dally is hard as rock but couldn't handle Johnny's death. This book by S.E HINTON. It set in a poor modern American families, it's about three young boys: how they help each other, how they get into troubles by the Socs and how they end up with.
             This book is about some teenager involved in two different gangs. One is called the Greasers and the other one is the Socs. They fight a lot. One night a Soc get killed by Johnny and Ponyboy (the Greasers). Then after all this sudden, they went to Dally for help. Dally help them to held away from the police after this murdering.
             Ponboy didn't get on well with Darry seems their parents were died; they use to fight a lot and arguing ever things. Ponyboy loves Sodapop very much and is more than Darry, because Soda always tries to understand him and which is Darry never does. For examples: Dropout made me think of some poor dumb-looking hoodlum wandering the streets breaking out street lights-it fitted Dally perfectly.
             One night Ponyboy meet a pretty girl called Cherry Valance, but she actually is one of the Soc's girlfriends. Ponyboy and Cherry get on quite well together. Later that night, the Greaser were get jumped by the Socs, but Cherry did help them to get out of that mass.
