"The Long Habbit": THe Habit o

The Long Habit” is a brief essay about, as Thomas Browne says, “The long habit of living.” Many people have a difficult time dealing with the fact that everyone, including themselves, is going to die. Some people are obbessed with the thought of living into old age. So much so, that they are trying to find or discover ways in which they can live longer. Thomas wrote about four different cases where people had died and been ressesitated, three of these people had calm and peaceful experiences. One of the four, however, was in agony. This patient had rabies, he remained acutely aware of every stage in the process of his own disintegration. Thomas said the man with rabies was the only case in which he had seen agony present in death. Even though this is the only c

. . .
Not every person will experience death the same. Life is short, so short in fact, that people should worry about their next move instead of their last. There are somethings that should just be left alone; dying is one of them. People always have been, and always will be, afraid to die. In other words you cannot do a study on how some people handle or feel when they die and say that is how everyone will take it unless they have rabies. Many people accept that they are eventually going to die while others struggle with the thought. There is no way around it, fearing death is inevitable. Though there are studies going on about death, no one person will exactly be able to define what people really go through. People may not be satisfied with the thought of death but, in most cases, accept it. For example, two people may die the same way and one may seem to have an agonizing experience, more so than the other person. Most people don’t even give death much thought if any until someone close too them dies. Death is something everyone will struggle with accepting at one point in their life or another. Humans are very hard to convince, especially of the thing they want to believe the most; almost as if it is to good to be true. I think that even if becomes evident that death is not a bad thing to do people will still fear it. I think this because, there will always be an unanswered question , thus, leading to disbelief of death not being a bad thing to do.
