Diversity is about the difference among people that create an environment that nurtures and respects the values of its employees, thus maximizing the potential of all employees. In order for an organization to support diversity, it must have committed leaders that are willing to educate and train their employees on the different aspects of diversity, and how diversity can improve the overall performance of the organization.Everyone on this earth is unique, and can contribute something to the vision of an organization. "With diversity comes differences, and with differences come the potential for problems in relationships. Understanding individual differences...are crucial in today's organizations." (Schermerhorn, 2003) Age diversity affects organizational behavior, because it can lower morale and overall production of an organization. Organizations have learned to treat women as equal to that of their male counter parts, plus there are now laws against this type of discrimination. In turn, this makes an organizations have a lower turn over rate and dependable services. There was also a common belief that women were not as capable as men, either physically or mentally or emotionally to perform certain jobs. " (Schermerhor, 2003) Gender diversity can have a negative or positive impact on an individual behavior for obvious reason. As stated on the university of Dayton website "Diversity includes the ability to understand the perspectives, response and assumption of thither form different societal and cultural contexts. If ethnic diversity is managed effectively then it will be good business for all organizations. Women can be moved to show that they are equal to their male colleges, so they worker harder to prove this fact. Age diversity means employing people of all ages, but along with age also comes difference in an individual's personality. Ethnicity tends to impact an individuals behavior by the group they are more likely to gravitate towards within an organization. In addition, most employees do embrace opportunities to broaden the scope of their job, but other will and do resist. You really have not talked to anyone all day except the customers. These people refuse to adapt to change. When someone else personality traits clash with our own we tend to throw up a wall and resist. What makes one person cry may make another person excited.
