Feminist Theory
The central thesis of Feminist Theory is that the present economic and social pressures operate directly and indirectly to support a patriarchal (male dominated) social order and family structure. Patriarchy is seen as leading to the subordination of women and causes the historical pattern of systematic violence directed against women. Unlike many areas of society, wherein women may find prejudice and androcentrism, gambling offers a completely unbiased experience. Casinos couldn't care less about color - other than green - and even less about gender; as long as your pockets are full, you'll be afforded the same rights as everyone else present: the right to lose extravagantly and feed your addiction. And, as we all know, addiction has no prejudice - it will take whatever willing or unwilling host it can attach itself to. Although men may be more prone to lose at the Black Jack and Roulette tables, and women at the slot machines, the odds are mutually, if not overwhelmingly, against them both. Obversely, the effect that this will have on both a man's and a woman's life could be diametrically opposite. While the woman may be a single female, gambling with her sole income, possibly gambling with the loss o . . .
Bell Hooks in Feminist Theory From Margin to Center, speaks of the establishment of shelters for victimized females, and bringing attention to the current socio/political patriarchal system that we currently exist under; her hope is that by doing so modern feminists can stem the growing tide of violence against women. Consider the major world religions, and women’s role in them. Though it may be noted that this system has always been in place, and men may be just as guilty as perpetuating it as women - it’s become an archetype. And it will have to, if it plans on holding the woman up as more than a simple pleasure partner and guilty sinner. And of course, the woman was the first to sin - she ruined everything. Zealots of any major religion will never be swayed to do as such. Feminist Theory, in its ex parte judgement of men, does not account for the burden that the archetypal family man is saddled with, and the last resorts that he may have to take, or at least believe that he may have to take. In The Bible, woman was only created to beget a sort of helper, pleasure partner for the man, who was created first, and coincidentally had control over everything including his wife. This is best explained by the Feminist Theory, and its citing of a patriarchal (male dominated) system. Some describe these religions, and the books that tout them - such as The Bible and The Koran - as containing the first set of laws. Unlike the crime of rape, which we will explore below, gambling is not a crime or legal addiction that can be ascribed completely to either member of the opposite sex. The only reason why there hasn’t been more of this behavior is because gay marriage has been thwarted for so long. And even then, all feminists are not in agreement that religion should be disbanded, uprooted; some are devout religious worshipers themselves; this presents a major problem for those in the field who wish to make a major change, for The Bible, and its directional subjugation of women, can never be amended. But now that lawmakers are finally trying to even the playing field - by legalizing gay marriage - women may find themselves abused by each other, within the confines of a new social union. The establishment of shelters for victimized women is one way to protect those females who are in a relationship wherein the man has wasted his money on gambling, and seeks to take his anger out on his partner.
