It usually occurs in cities in certain climate conditions. Smoke in the atmosphere cuts down the amount of sunlight which the earth receives on the ground. They also agreed to foster energy efficiency in their economies, promote the development of cleaner energy sources and employ agricultural practices that have a sustainable environmental impact. Smoke consist tiny particles of carbon and tar which come from burning coal in power station or even at homes. "« When it reacts with sulfur dioxide it forms acid rain (see explanation above). Wet deposition refers to acidic rain, fog, and snow. The primary sources of nitrogen oxides are motor vehicles, electric utilities, and other industrial, commercial, and residential sources that burn fuels. The highest levels of CO in the outside air typically occur during the colder months of the year when inversion conditions are more frequent. Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) are a family of compounds containing chlorine, fluorine and carbon. Carbon monoxide is formed when carbon in fuel is not burned completely. It is produced when sunlight and ozone in the atmosphere act on nitrogen oxides and unburnt hydrocarbons released from vehicle exhausts. It accumulates in the atmosphere with other greenhouse gasses causing a gradual rise in the earth's temperature (see explanation on affects of air pollution above). SO2 dissolves in water vapor to form acid, and interacts with other gases and particles in the air to form sulfates and other products that can be harmful to people and to the environment.
