             "The Silent Spring", by Rachel Carson states how pesticides, which are used to kill unwanted plants and insects to improve and protect agriculture, dramatically inflict harmful effects on the environment and life itself and intentionally have failed to have been told to the public by those who use them. Carson did the society a social justice by warning the public of such dangers. Angus Wright who wrote, "The Death of Ramón González the modern agricultural dilemma" scrutinizes the effects of the Green Revolution in Mexico, and how it was a social injustice to the people of Mexico and society. The public was affected by technological ingenuities in both cases.
             In "The Silent Spring", Carson explains how humans engineer new ways to change the environment to fit the needs of society. Life has evolved over time and has changed to adapt to the conditions it is faced with. "Man undoes the built-in checks and balances by which nature holds the species within bonds" [1:10]. Thus "man can hardly recognize the devils of his own creation"[1:6] because the public isn't informed about such destructive effects that are more harmful than we are led to believe. An insecticide such as DDT, used to kill unwanted insect crop destroyers contaminated everything that it came into contact with. This pesticide infected the environment, animals, water sources, and ultimately human beings. Such insecticides spread through the environment destroying life inadvertently. Carson states "The problem whose attempted solution has brought such a train of disaster in its wake is an accompaniment of our modern way of life" [1:8]. She is saying that the pesticides are a new solution to protect our agriculture, but at the expense destroying life.
