a new process of thought

             It is a new era, a new millennium and new ideas of how we should live are emerging. We as a society must begin to think as individuals with public interest at the core of our beliefs. Currently we live in a capitalist society with strong emphasis on power, success and expanding the riches we have accumulated at the expense of the poor. To me, now and forever, I see a flaw in that system. So the dilemma of how we integrate a "new process of thought" as the title suggests, into how we perceive the world and our future begins.
             When I was three, I moved from Australia to America. Nothing out of the ordinary because I was not aware that there would be any difference. As I grew up, I did not know very much about other cultures or the Australian one I had left when I was three. In my teenage years, the lack of knowledge of other cultures and the high stress environment I lived in caused by an overwhelming drive to succeed essentially cut me off from the world. Living in this stressful, high paced American society was really taking its toll on me. I was always afraid of failure and living life without the necessary means to provide for myself and my family. There was too much emphasis placed on success, power and money; I was believing it all. This sort of thinking lasted until I was eighteen and struggling in life. I had dropped out of school in hopes of doing something positive with my life and most importantly to try and maintain some sanity and sobriety in very hectic times for myself. I needed a change, and I needed to understand myself, my Australian culture and to start seeing other ways of life the would eventually lead to some direction in which to take my life.
             I was a highschool dropout and my mind was still cluttered with thoughts unwanted; thoughts of success, power and money filled my brain and made me doubt my decisions to make a change in my life. I stayed in this mind set for roughl
