Interpersonal psychology

Interpersonal Psychology; “ Is defined as the study of basic principles as they relate to Personal and Professional development. It emphasizes ones personality traits, communication and leadership styles, ability to solve problems, taking also into account cultural diversity as they apply to personal and work environment “ If the human race was able too have identical events and similar worldviews a standard could easily be established and then measured. Personalities are influenced by culture and subcultures as we clearly see in the case of Anita and Gale.

Below I have summarized Anita and Gale :

GALE ANITA

Age: -Late 20’s -Early 40’s

Education: -Masters from B.C -Masters from Ontario

Born: -Quebec -Alberta (Midwest)

Parental Marital Status: -Divorced -Married long term

Race: -Philippines -Caucasian

Politics:

. . .

Yes they are similar and that similarity has become the glue that has resulted in Anita and Gale ultimately being comparable, resulting in them being best friends without being rivals.

Carl Jung believes that human personality spans over four eras, “childhood” “youth”, “maturity” and “old age”. The question being posed about Anita and Gale can be compared to their interpersonal psychology that is partial underwater as many aspects and theories could apply if more information was given such as rivalry, ego etc. Anita, with all her challengers has bubbled into a person who strength and fortitude has brought her to this space that she presently lives in. We can argue about each individual’s shortcoming but still the fabric that keeps them and their lives together is ultimately their bond.

I believe that the reason why Anita and Gale are best friends is because their human nature is compatible, mutual respect has been attained, ethics and morality has been settled and acceptance of each individualism and accomplishments has been recognized without any preconceived prejudice.

Alfred Adler also suggests that “the drive for competence and power” is one of the motivating factors throughout ones life span and the analogy of a river that bubbles up from its source, twisting and turning as it travels (life) sometimes with calm passages and sometimes through rapids- before it reaches its final destination is what takes place in all our lives. When analyzing the elements that make up Anita and Gale, I clearly believe that these elements have greatly effected them, but because there is basically a common standard this can explain their friendship, their respect for each other, their common elements of interest, their own upbringing that we see was so different, to me it boils down to diverse interests that they share, resulting in mutual respect and love for each other. We, as human beings have self concept (factual information) and self-esteem (how we think about ourselves), what we are and what will we become . Their personality has influenced many parts of their reasoning; their experience especially with exposure in education has made them wiser and more tolerant than an individual who has been locked away, now being asked to conform according to this new environment that we now want him to come into contact with . Our lives are influenced by the above with all of us having positive and negatives experiences that ultimately shape each individual and their success.

Freud likened the human personality to an iceberg, 10 % visible above water. -Solid Liberal -Conservative/ Reformer

Religion: -Devoted -Non-existent

Interest: -Very similar -Very similar

Economic upbringing: -Parent in low paying job -Both have professional careers

Friendship: -Best friends’ -Best friends

Parent’s aspirations -Knowing daughter must -Expected to have a good life

have a better life

Achievements: -Good grades -Presumed good grades

Job status: -Both professors -Both professors

The above simply illustrates the different experiences; people become exposed too, hence why we have many complex factors that eventually make up each and every human being.
