” (line 15) He is pondering what his life would have been like if he hadn ’ t chosen the other path, yet he wouldn ’ t go back and change his decision because he “ took the road less traveled by, and that has made all the. The settings of the poems being so drastically different plays a big role in the outcome of each of the poems. ” (line 12) He then decides to choose one of the paths because “ it was grassy and wanted wear. The speaker in each of the poems seem to have a totally different view on life. Choosing the word “ yellow ” helps to set the mood of the poem as being positive. After reflecting back on the path the speaker chose to take in “ The Road Not Taken ” he says “ I doubted if I should have ever come back. One speaker wanting to choose a path to live his life, the other speaker wanting to give up on life in general. In “ The Road Not Taken ” the speaker examines each path and sees that “ both that morning equally lay in leaves no step had trodden black. ” (lines 9,10) His horse giving his harness bells a shake in this poem seems to indicate a brighter side to the poem, the fact that he is not alone, and that there is more to his life that is worth living. In “ Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening ” the speaker stops and examines the calmness of the woods and how “ the only other sound ’ s the sweep of easy wind and downy flake. rd “ yellow ” to describe the woods not only to show that it was a sunny day, but that it was a good day. In “ Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening ” the speaker comes upon a strangers woods and must make a choice whether to stay there or continue his journey. ” (lines 11,12) The easy wind and downy flake seem to symbolize the fact that he is lonely. In “ The Road Not Taken ” the speaker comes upon a fork in the road. ” (line 8) Therefore the whole mood of the poem seems dark and cold.
