Death of a Salesman (Arthur Miller) One of the greatest representative of the american drama was a leading playwright, Arthur Miller. Although Miller's dramas take place in familial settings, he has made a reputation for dealing with contemporary political and moral issues. Miller divided "Death of a Salesman" into three sections: Act I, Act II, and a short Requiem. The author uses a big repertoire of methods. The important technics are: (1) the flashback method, which can express the play between present and past. Past has a determinal effect. It can also confront illusion and reality. (2) The Wall and Light technique has a big role in the change of time. (3) The spontaneous remembrance of Bergson is very momentous, because recollection pulls down the barriers of place and time. (4) The dialogues of Chekhov appears in the play. The characters talk around each other.
