            One of the most widespread innovations in this contemporary world is the use of computers to communicate with other people. Such a service is known as computer-mediated communication (CMC). The most common world-wide computer network used is the internet. On the internet, the most commonly used CMC service is electronic mail (e-mail), sent and received by individuals. E-mail stores and sends messages through certain delivery mechanisms. Many of the CMC services have social and physiological impacts on people's lifestyles. These impacts can be described as loss of social communication, identity, and standards of language usage.
             Computer-mediated communication diminishes social contact with people. Since CMC is a text-based medium it's hard to see, hear, and feel each other. The absence of getting regulated feedbacks like gestures, nods, and tone of voice may cause coordination problems and loss of a social view of the world. In the absence of the social environment, CMC is like a conversation that's completely different from face-to-face interaction. Many business type negotiations that happen in real life depend heavily on social cues that include but are not limited to eye contact, and tone of voice. The loss of such cues in CMC would adversely affect a person's ability to negotiate. Thus CMC enables very few social forms of communication. For example, in Megan Daum's "Virtual Love," the author meets her partner in a chat room as PFSlider and finds this more enjoyable than meeting him in a social setting. Generally speaking, CMC has given everyone a certain comfort level to engage in conversations.
             This is being taken advantage of by people who are recreating their own identities. A person's real name isn't required to be submitted in CMC forums.
