America
Sometimes, the American people often find themselves asking, "What exactly is America?". Now this is certainly not a surprise for most, or myself, due to the fact that America is one of the youngest countries in the world. Other counries aren't necessarily surprised at how old America really is, but instead are astonished at how successful this country have gotten. While most countries parise America for its accomplishments, some aren't agraid to point out American's weaknesses. In fact, Gunnar Mydral once quoted: "The big majority of Americans...have developed an ability to enclave people in the greatest misery without almost noticing them". America first started off as an experiment, or rather, a land of opportunities. Many came to America in seek of a better life, a better g
The title "Americans" sounds more like a culture than the people itself. People living in different parts of the world dreams to be just like an "American". Interestingly, it seems that the American government may just be the lesser of the evils. Put in another way, Washington planted a seed for the Americans. Whatever the case may be, there is no denying that the American government is still well among the most stable. Of course, we can't forget about the people who really made America the country it really is; the American people themselves. There's people from every single country on this planet. overnment, and a better place to spend the rest of their lives. Take for instance what author Thomas Paine once said about the American government itself: "Government, even at its best state, is but a necessary evil; in its worst state an intolerable one". But the real issue is, is there such things as the American people? Charles Dickens said: "I do not know the American gentlemen, got forgive me for putting two such words together". Later, this seedling began to take root, and finally; America is now a giant plant that continues its rapid growth. We all came to the same place to live, to speak the same language, wear Levi's Jeans, drink Pepsi, and most importantly, become Americans. Coming from the other hemisphere of the earth, I was one of those people as well. Still, it wasn't until a few decades back when the term "Americans" really came into the mainstream. Whether this statement is said with traces of sarcasm or not, I tend to agree with it.
