Censorship: Should There Be

             Ever since the beginning of time there has been some source of censorship. No one is allowed to just say or do whatever they want to. If this was the case than the whole world would be in chaos. Nothing but turmoil and anarchy would be prevalent. But there is a downfall to censorship also. Free speech is violated and your right to say what you want (to some extent) is also violated. This goes against the First Amendment, which clearly protects the right to freedom of speech. Which brings up the puzzling enigma: should there be censorship in the U.S.
             The media has a very huge effect on the minds of the youth. Artists like Jay-Z and TV stars like Chris Tucker are looked up to more than the president to most youth. So you can imagine how much of there time goes toward paying attention to these figures. In fact a survey was conducted in which 3,155 students said they spend on often 165 minutes watching TV. And they spend about 55 minutes listening to music. 39 minutes is spent on listening to the radio, 21 minutes using the computer, and 20 minutes is used playing video games. (Based on a survey by the Department of Agriculture's, National Agricultural Statistics Service in 1999.) So if you subtract the recommended 8 hours of sleep needed there is a possible out of the possible 16 hours you would be awake. And if a child spends about 5 hours being entertained that means a little over a fourth of there day is going towards the media.
             The First Amendment says that, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise therof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances." --The First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. This means as law as no one is being hurt or as long as their rights aren't being violated then there is a protection under the U.S government. So
