Freud

             There is always something new that people want to find. Some people like to find new clothing styles and others like to find different foods to try. Above that, there are a select few who strive to find new scientific ideas. Working in the medical field, Sigmund Freud always tried to advance in every area he studied. Freud was a curious man with a lot of determination throughout his career in medicine even though many of his ideas were widely criticized. .
             Sigmund Freud was born in the town of Freiberg, Moravia, on May 6, 1856. When Freud was born, he had a caul, an extra layer of skin, on his head. Thought to signify happiness and fortune in the baby's future, the extra layer also resembled fame. In addition, his mother took him for a walk in his carriage one day, and an old peasant woman looked at the baby, then to his mother and said that he "would one day be a great man" (Klagsbrun 8). Such goods words remained in his parent's heads and they took generous pride them. These prophecies furthermore led Freud's parents to believe that they had a very talented child; therefore, they treated him as a favorite child from that point on.
             Being well treated in his family life, Freud was able to excel in his studies. After he was finished with his schooling, he admitted that he had a photographic memory that helped him throughout is school years (Klagsbrun 26). His memory made school miraculously easier, which gave him more opportunity to attain other interests. Besides achieving high standards in his own schoolwork, he tutored his sisters at home. Since Freud felt that intelligence was not the only key to prosperity, he taught his sisters proper etiquette for the Victorian Age (Klagsbrun 18). Later in life, Freud ironically went against proper manners and etiquette is his works and experiments.
