The major advantage of having a magnet and magnetism is using it to make electricity. Without the magnet on a compass a traveler would have no idea which way they are heading and would most likely get lost.

Another use for a magnet is to lift up large metal objects. The larger the magnet the stronger the power it has. Without a magnet the process of creating electricity would be harder because alternatives would have to be used more often. A person would have to come out and attach the cables to or around the car to pick it up. Magnets can be toys or they could be supporters.
