The life of Muhammad

Muhammad was born in Mecca in 570, he had a very sad life until he was 12 years old. He came from a wealthy family but his father died 3 weeks before Muhammad was born. It was customary for Quarish women (like Muhammad・s mother) to entrust their babies to Bedioun women, who were wandering tribes people to raise them in the desert to protect them from disease in the towns. Muhammad was looked after by a Bedioun woman called Halimah until he was 6 years old, when he was returned to his mother. His mother died later that year and Muhammad went to live with his grandfather Abl-al-Muttalib, who was 80 years old. His grandfather died 2 years later and Muhammad went to live with his uncle Abu Talib, a wealthy merchant.

Muhammad first worked as a shepherd, his uncle thought he was hardworking and trustworthy and took him on business trips. The opinion that Muhammad could be trusted was widely thought as he earned the nickname .Al-Amin・, which means the trustworthy one. Muslims believe that Muhammad・s trust was one of his traits as a leader and helped him gather more followers.

Muhammad became a business manager, one of his clients was a wealthy woman much older than him her name was Khadijah. Muhammad made her twice the mon

When Muhammad was forty years old when he was called to be a prophet. Muhammad also had to make people believe in life after death, as they would find out first hand that it did exist when they died but it would be too late and they would be sent to hell, even if they begged for forgiveness. The small group would hold prayers in which they prostrated themselves facing Jerusalem in submission to Allah. They liked his beliefs and invited him to go and live in Yathrib. Muhammad・s family gave him a lot of support. Muhammad was always aware when the revelations would happen, and sometimes he appeared to have lost consciousness or become very hot and be soaked in sweat. He had gone to spend the ninth month Ramadan meditating in his special place in the mountain Hira, where he had done the same for five years but that night was going to be very different.

Muhammad was very confused about what had happened to him. At first the only followers of his message where his wife Khadijah, his cousin Ali, his friend Abu Baker and a slave Muhammad had freed called Zayd Bin Haritha. An old man said they should wait to see who came through the gates to the Ka・bab first the next morning, and they would decide what to do. This is one of the reasons Muslims believe he was a good leader because it shows he was a problem solver. Respect and love one another equally and remember that your first and main duty in life is to God.

His second revelation was Surah 74 (The one wrapped up).

It was his fifth year of visiting the cave when he had a vision of the angel Gabriel or Jibril, (who had also appeared to Mary and Joseph). There are many different views on Muhammad but one of them is a definite fact: Muhammad was a good leader, after all he started a religion that today has millions of followers when to start with people thought he was crazy and he still didn・t give up.
