Alan Greenspan

             Alan Greenspan has recently been reelected as chairman to serve his fifth term by the senate. He controls interest rates in regards to inflation and has moved our economy up and down the equilibrium with his famous economic instincts. Some even consider him one of the world's most powerful men.
             Greenspan has three degrees. He has earned a B.S., M.A. and a PH.D., all in economics. He has successfully pulled our economy through the crash of 1987, the recession of the early 1990's, the dot-com bubble, and the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11. He has steered our economy through inflation for years and has done so by taking notice of every inclination that a price might rise or a stock might drop. He is liked as well as disliked by many. Was Greenspan the right man to reelect? Well the economy's position at the end of his term will reveal whether Bush was right when reelecting him. As a consumer, it is one's opinion to take comfort in the fact that his theories and actions have guided our economy out of unthinkably hard times and his consistency to balance out inflation through prices has and hopefully will keep our economy from going into economic shock.
             Although many people praise Alan Greenspan for his financial influence, but others are quick to complain about him, whether it be about his up and down decisions about interest rates or his endorsement of tax cuts. There are also many people who disagree with allowing one man to contain as much economic power as Greenspan does. Some argue that if one man has all the power, our economy would fall apart if something happened to him because no one would know what to do.
             On the other hand there are many supporters of Alan Greenspan. A famous economist, John Taylor, is one of them.
