Admission to Teacher's College
My interest in teaching developed at a very early age. Grade three proved to be the beginning of my interests in teaching, as my teacher intrigued me. I would find myself repeatedly shadowing her every move and absorbed her enthusiasm to teach. I would grasp the knowledge acquired through her and would often relay it to my fellow classmates as a peer tutor. To this day becoming a teacher is a passion that flows deeply through my heart and soul. I would be an excellent teacher only because of my enthusiasm, but because I aspire to see the satisfaction in the eyes of my students after the successful completion of a task. Not only do I want to transfer my wealth of information to students through academic skills, but I also want to participate in teaching them life lessons such as: the value of community, pride in their ethnicity, good citizenship as well as the importance of sportsmanship and fair play. I deeply aspire to play a fundamental role in ensuring that all students from all cultures and learning abilities have the opportunity to be guided in a positive learning environment. I am committed to the physical, emotional, and intellectual development of my students. I am confident in my abilities and have experiences tha . . .
The busiest night of the week, Men’s Night, I was always on duty due to my composure and efficiency to deal with fifty screaming men wanting golf carts when only thirty were available! I also organized tournaments and was an integral part in our weekly junior days. From this experience I learned how to be innovative in getting the children to learn and love the game of golf and be involved in an individual sport whose rules exude honesty, sportsmanship and integrity. Peak hours required me to be organized and work under pressure to ensure customer satisfaction. Hard work and dedication has got me to where I am now and will help me excel in the future. Wishing to still interact with the customers I learned to multi-task and kept the business in order. Already I have seen a connection between the grades that would not exist if this program were not in place. I am a very personable, upbeat individual that is willing to take on all different sorts of tasks. Working with Special Education Learning Classes kids from grades 2-6, my in-class experiences allowed me to enrich the education system by sharing my skills, interests, life experience and personal expertise with the kids. To be able to use these methods to positively influence students would be extremely rewarding. My life proved to be very organized and still is due to that learning experience. Having this particular opportunity has further reinforced my passionate desire to teach and bring to the students the same enthusiasm that I have brought forth already to the school that I am presently working in. I gained confidence in interacting and debating with a large group of peers and adults. As a provincially competitive swimmer for the North Bay Y Titans for eleven years, I learned the importance teamwork and leadership have on an individual. I have seen this first hand through the guidance of several talented teachers who have contributed to my success academically and have spirited my excitement for becoming a teacher. In my senior years as a member of the team I was nominated to be a swimmer’s representative for the North-Eastern Ontario region and was also a youth leader for the younger members of my swim club.
