Are Apples and Oranges Alike?

             People often refer to apples and oranges as two subjects with no similarities. However, there are many ways in which and oranges are alike. Tests that involved using materials such as tape measures, surveys, the "Licker Scale", and many other comparisons show the similarities in these two fruits. Other similarities include their orchards, their classification, and their uses. With this information the similarities outweigh the differences.
             Apples and oranges are similar in classification. They are considered fruits
             and both rate a "2" according to the British Medical Journal. The "Licker Scale" determines that the sweetness factor (1 = kind of sweet; 2 = sweet; 3 very sweet; 4 = really very sweet). "2 = Sweet" is shared by both fruits according to the British Medical Journal. The mean circumference (apples 2.3 and oranges 2.6), and diameter (apples 0.6 and oranges 0.7) also are very closely related in size. Both oranges and apples contain seeds which can easily reproduce more fruit. The environments in which apples and oranges grow have many similarities. Apples and oranges grow in the mid-summer in orchards across America. The first step to growing apples and oranges is to plant a seed which will become a tree. These apple and orange trees bear flowers which in turn add to the visual appeal of the tree. During the cultivation process of these fruits, it is necessary to inspect for viruses, bacterium, and other harmful outside influences. As with all fruits, drought or frost can be very harmful to harvesting. Apples and oranges move on to be two of America's leading exports.
             The uses for apples and oranges are also another comparable category. Both can be squeezed into very common juices.
