In Cold Blood by Truman Capote

             Truman Capote's real name is Truman Streckfus Persons. He was born on September 30, 1924 in New Orleans. He had a very unsettled family life. His father was imprisoned and his parents divorced. He eventually moved to New York City to live with his mother (Capote v).
             Capote got a job as a copyboy when he was young. His stories started to be published when he was in his twenties. Capote wrote a wide range of things, from short stories, novels, and journalism to plays and musicals (Clarke 1).
             Capote wrote the book In Cold Blood because he was very interested in the murder and prolonged investigation of the Clutter family. His goal was to make the book good literature as well as be informative and accurate. He also did extensive research before writing his novel. Although completely accurate Capote also made this a very creative work. This was undoubtedly his most successful and acclaimed book (Capote vi).
             Truman Capote worked on many other books over the years. He wrote books like Other Voices, Other Rooms, and The Grass Harp. He also wrote A Tree of Night, Breakfast at Tiffany's, House of Flowers (a musical), Local Color, The Muses are Heard, and Beat the Devil. Truman Capote died on August 25, 1984, after years of battling drugs and alcohol (Capote vii).
             In Cold Blood by Truman Capote is a true story about the Clutter family and the two men that murdered them. The murders take place early on November 14, 1959. While the murders, Perry Smith and Richard Hickock, are driving to the Clutter ranch the Clutters go about their normal day, not knowing that it is their last. After a long drive, Hickock and Smith show up to the Clutter home with a shotgun and a knife.
             Later that morning, Susan Kidwell and another of Nancy's friends discover the bodies of the Clutters. The police were dumbfounded. Initially, Bobby Rupp, Nancy's boyfriend is the main suspect. But once he passes a lie detector...
