Faction vs Fiction
1. Non-fiction texts can never be as exciting as prose fiction texts because the writers are restricted by their lack of imagination. To begin and make myself clearer in the essay, I will say that I agree with the statement with to some degree. By reading on, you will understand why I do not agree with the statement to the full extent. So generally, non-fiction texts can never be as exciting as prose fiction texts. It is true that a better writer would be able take simple; boring points and turn it into a masterpiece. The problem always lies in the issue of deviation from the truth. If there is too much manipulation of facts and figures, a totally accurate set of material can become only somewhat true. The truth that is contained within can become hidden by the attempts of the writer to make it seem exciting. When people read non-fiction, it is really not expected that it is going to be exciting. Though it may be, non-fiction texts and straightforward facts are normally associated together. Non-fiction texts are limited to reality and its restraints. This is not saying in anyway that reality can be boring; it is just that imagination cannot be used. It would not be considered a non-fiction text in that case. Writers o
From a non-fiction perspective, as I said earlier, the episodes were understood to have been common at the time. They can write about anything and everything and do not need to worry about readers portraying a false sense of reality from their readings. There would without doubt be no plot and the text would not be leading anywhere, hence the lack in excitement. I don't totally disagree with the statement because it is not the lack of imagination of the non-fiction text author that makes a non-fiction text boring. Reality is clearly not a factor that must be considered when constructing a fictional text. If it is not put into some sort of a structure it would just appear to be uncomplicated. The research was all into true facts and figures that had relevance to the soldier's life. A true non-fiction book like a book on the different species of flora would not be exciting but would be interesting to the targeted audience. Fiction texts are as the word states. This was only achievable in the make believe world. So in coherence with my previous point, the excitement contained within a non-fiction text is reliant upon the topic/event the author is writing about. So really a prose fiction text can become a production that contains a lot more excitement than a non-fiction text. For example, the text Divine Wind talked about a specific time period in an existent place. The author of a fiction text has neither limits nor bounds to which they must abide. This meant that the author had to fill in gaps and holes to make the story understandable and consistent.
