Stimulants vs Depressants

There are two methods of birth control: they are barrier and non-barrier. The barrier method work by blocking the pathway that sperm must take to reach and egg and helps against STD's. The non-barrier method helps prevent pregnancy but not against STD's. I will explain more and tell about each of the methods. Barrier methods must be used correctly every time you have sexual intercourse. Some barrier methods require both sex partners cooperate in the use of them. If you use the barrier methods correctly they are very effective in preventing pregnancy. The barrier methods include male condoms, female condoms, diaphragm, contraceptive sponges, and the cervical cap. The male condoms are called "rubbers". They are sheaths made of thin latex rubbers or lambskin. Lambskin condoms are thinner than latex condoms and do not provide protection against STD's. However latex condoms do prevent against STD's. The male condoms are the easiest to buy and are quite effective in preventing pregnancy. Female condoms are a vaginal pouch that covers the vaginal canal, along with entire genital area. The female condom is inserted into the vagina and placed against the cervix to keep sperm fr

The Norplant is a set of hormone-releasing capsules that are implanted beneath the skin of a women's arm through a tiny cut made by a doctor. A tubal ligation is where the fallopian tubes are tied, or closed off. The diaphragm should be checked often for holes and fitted by a doctor. The contraceptive sponge is a dome-shaped sponge that contains a spermicidal. For the men they can have a vasectomy if they do not want anymore children. The sponge is effective for up to 24 hours and you need no prescription. This is the preferred means of birth control for some women. The sponge must be in place before intercourse begins and remain in place for at least 6 hours after intercourse. The diaphragm is inserted 6 hours before sexual intercourse and kept inside for ate least 6 hours afterwards. The cons of the barrier method can become expensive. A vasectomy is a tiny incision in the scrotum and cuts or ties off the Vas deferens. The cap must be used with spermicidal and fitted by a doctor. The IUD prevents sperm from swimming into the Fallopian tubes and also prevents implantation of a fertilized egg in the uterus. The Depo-Provera is a hormone-based contraceptive injection.
