             PETA and other animal rights groups feel that all animals have the same rights to
             existence and that there is no reason for humans to be at a higher level than any other animal. For the same reasons that race, gender, social standing, age, or intelligence are no reason to give one human more rights than another, a difference in species should not make any difference either. In 1985, Singer claimed that "from an ethical point of view, we all stand on an equal footing-whether we stand on two feet, or four, or none at all." (Singer 6) These theories lead PETA and other groups to the idea that we should be vegetarians and not use animals in any form at all for our benefit.

             that animals do not have the same rights as humans do because they have no morality and they do not have the same level of conscious thought that humans do.
