When you look around at the people in a mall, work, or at school what do you see? Diversity is what is seen, not only at the mall but also at work, school, and other public places. In the United States as well as other countries diversity is everywhere there is no avoiding it, it comes in different shapes, sizes, and colors. What is diversity? Diversity is, "the fact or quality of being diverse; difference, a point or respect in which things differ" (Mifflin, 2000). Diversity is just something that is different from other things. There are many forms of being diverse like ethnicity, gender, age, and religion. Being diverse not only makes an individual different from the next but diversity impacts an individual's behavior at work, school, and in society.The way an individual behaves can do a lot with their ethnicity. In the world today practically every ethnic background has a stereotype. Due to the stereotypes of the different ethnic backgrounds the youth today is practically forced to behave in a certain manner because of the stereotypes. I am Mexican and growing up in an a small community where the white population was dominant over the Mexican most Mexicans were stereotyped as gang affiliated and we
Age along with gender will always change when it comes to the way they impact behavior. The negative stereotype can make that individual want to change and not fall into the stereotype and prove people wrong. All across the globe equality is becoming a reality. The reason they behave differently is because of what is accepted in society. Religion is one of the biggest factors that impact an individual's behavior because usually that is part of their value system. Diversity is needed in everyday life here in the United States due to some many diverse groups and if this great country of ours wants to continue to be successful the country and its people have to realize that diversity is a positive and not a negative. The way women behave due to their gender depends on how they were brought up. There are many different types of diversity that can change the way an individual behaves. There are some religions that will not allow an individual to work or do anything on Sundays. If an individual works at a department store that is open seven days a week and the individual cannot work on Sundays, it may cause a conflict in interest and lead to a confrontation. On the other hand an adult thinks differently because they might have a family, bills to pay, or some other responsibility. Something like that can impact the way an individual acts because they will start to believe themselves that is what they are so why fight it. Men will always try to behave like they are the dominant species and they are always right. Not being able to do things on Sundays can impact people around him at work or school.
