Culture
Cultures are diverse the world over, each with their own differences and variations. Found around the globe, individual cultures are no longer specific to a certain area, but are rather mixed in and share borders with many other cultures. Individually a culture is defined by the common history of its people shared religious views and generally language. Because of the spread of cultures around the world we are seeing that individual characteristics are becoming blended into new and hybrid forms of new cultures. Historically cultures were bound within physical limits and as such developed their own unique characteristics. The experiences shared by these groups of people resulted in that society's common history and as such helped shape their traditions, social structure and mores. Religion evolved out of these experiences helping to create and keep a sense of community and belonging amongst these groups. Finally Language played an important part. By having similar languages within these groups it limited the spread of ideas and helped define one society from anothe
Finally the industrial revolution spread technological advancement in the western hemisphere especially in the fields of communications (telegraph, steam ship, locomotive, etc. In conclusion culture has helped various groups of people develop common identities and has shaped societies differently throughout our world. Even with a shared sense of religion cultures continued to be individualistic and distinctive from each other. The first being the idea of globalization, that of moving toward a single universal culture and in many ways it has already begun with the creation of the United Nations and stronger still with the European union. The first major break in the unity of these cultures occurred when similar religious practices began to organize themselves collectively. The second is the multicultural approach. This ability to rapidly transmit ideas along with the strengthened sense of civic, rather than religious, community resulted in a melding of once tight nit cultures. This was especially true when the empire converted to Christianity and laid the foundation of the modern organized Church. While there has been a large amount of mixing between cultures the formation of new hybrid cultures will maintain diversity the world over. This approach seeks to maintain separate cultural identities in the spirit of the beauty of a culturally diverse world. Other none western examples of this can be seen with the Persian and Chinese empires in the east. The Roman Empire was foremost in this initial break in that, through conquest it brought a shared, organized religious practice to most of the know world.
