Harry Potter

             Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban is the third book out of five by J.K. Rowling's series of Harry Potter. In Prisoner of Azkaban, Harry returns for his third year at Hogwart School of witchcraft and wizardry, where he is reunited with old friends Ron and Hermione. There is a mass murderer called Sirius Black who just escaped from Azkaban prison and he is heading for Hogwarts where his next target is Harry himself. Even though they are young wizards, they are still carrying a lot of vulnerability. He succeeds as a result of his enthusiasm, courage, and good friends. These are all positive sides that anybody can understand and desire. Rounded characters are characters that change and grow. For example, Harry becomes angriest when taunted about his parent's death; however, in this book, when he faces Peter, the person who led Voldemort to his parents, he stops Lupin (the new teacher) and Black from killing Peter, saying, "I don't reckon my dad would've wanted them to become killers just for you" (Prisoner of Azkaban, page 376). While the fun of fantasy might be its otherworldliness, its power lies is the truths it reveals about the real world. Rowling's books are banned at some places because it conflicts with religious beliefs. Holy Family Catholic School in Rockford, Illinois, has removed J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter books from the school library because the principal feels they present witchcraft and astrology in a positive light. I couldn't get a chance to talk with anybody in that school but I found out that the principal of school, Tony Smerko, has banned the book because of its contrary to the teachings of the Catholic Church schools. I totally disagree with his decision.
