Bible Anarchy

             Anarchy is an idea of an ideal society in which there is no government or political authority. In today's world, a world where the blind and afraid are ruled by imperial oppressors, the idea of anarchy is seen as a very negative thing. Most people think of anarchy as destructive, anti-social and essentially evil. Anarchy is associated with riots, looting and chaos. An anarchist is usually perceived as a bad person who would be expected to carry out some kind of terrorist act. These things may all be anarchistic in a way, but they misrepresent and give anarchy a bad name. The anarchistic ideal is not death and destruction, riots and terror, or stealing and personal gain at the expense of others. Anarchism is not without principle or order; it is simply life without any form of government. The perfect anarchistic society, if there could ever be one, would be a peaceful life, without the oppression of government or a monetary system, where the people work for the good of each other and share all that they have. This is the kind of idea that people like Mahatma H. Ghandi fought for. Although this is a sort of utopian ideal and seems impossible for human beings to accomplish, it is clearly laid out and supported in the Bible. Even though most anarchists would be against Christianity because of the institutionalized nature of organized religion, the Bible actually commands this kind of egalitarian, or equal, classless society. The idea is that civil authority is essentially evil, and that God's word is the only law which needs to be followed: "Virtually every organized religion, at some point in history, has experienced movements that 'reject all authority, whether temporal or spiritual, and claim complete liberty to act in accordance with an inner light'(Joll,17)."
