Our Little Island Government
I think that our right of 'freedom of religion' is a good right. It can be sustained over a long period of time. People should be able to believe what they want to freely and openly. We shouldn't tell people what they have to believe and prosecute them if they don't. I would keep this right if I could go back and do it again. The 'right to a peaceful protest' is also a good right. I think it can last, not to mention the fact that it gives the people a say in their government. If we think something is unjust, we need to be able to speak out against it. I would definitely keep this right. The 'right to gay and straight marriages' was an interesting motion. I thought there was going to be a bigger discussion, but either those opposed to it did not speak, or there were very few people opposed to it. I don't think it is a good right or restriction. I do think it will last because it will be one more freedom that people will have, but some homosexuals still might not want to come out of the closet because of the ridicule they might receive. I don't, however, want this law to be in effect. I've been trying to think of why I don't want the law, but I can't think of a democratic reason other than marria
This lets people vote on who will lead them, but spares them the dullness and inconveniencies of voting for every single issue. People should also be aware of ex-convicts and child molesters in their neighborhoods and schools. I think this can last, but a better restriction would be just 'no murder,' because people kill things all the time. If it were very speedy, I would think we weren't doing a good job. It goes against people's freedom of speech. The law, 'adult age-16' is not a good law. That is not a good way to run a country. not only does drinking and driving affect your life, but it threatens those in your car and the other car or place you might crash into. People want to be heard, and an absolute monarch would not listen. I'm not saying that we shouldn't give them a second chance. I realize that if it was your job, you should get over it, but we were just high school students. I know there are some flaws in this method, but I think it is the best overall. It is healthy for a nation to have the 'right to free education.
